Is a community of students and knowledge enthusiasts dedicated to promoting open knowledge through Wikipedia and its sister projects
Our mission is to empower students with research, writing, and digital skills while contributing to the expansion of free and accessible information about Nigeria, Africa, and the world. Through workshops, edit-a-thons, and collaborative projects, we enhance the visibility of local content, ensuring that our stories, history, and culture are well-represented on global platforms. By joining the OAU Wiki Fan Club, members become part of a movement that values knowledge-sharing, digital literacy, and the power of information to create positive change.

To achieve its objectives by hosting several projects and events such as: edit-a-thons, GLAMs, Wikipedia Education programs and related projects, which aim to promote Wikimedia projects within and outside the institution.
The club will plan
Wikimedian Ambassador program that rotates among the student on yearly basis. The selected person shall be the face of Wikimedia in the school. The club partners and collaborates with other non-governmental and governmental bodies to promote open knowledge.
Educate and Empower
To educate members on the importance of open knowledge and empower them to contribute accurately and responsibly to Wikipedia.
Promote Nigerian Culture
Focus on documenting and promoting the rich cultural heritage of Nigeria, particularly that of the Yoruba people.

The OAU Wiki Fan Club has successfully organized: Wikipedia SDGs Campus Tour 2.0 (OAU Edition) – Focused on bridging content gaps related to SDG 3, 5, and 13 (Good Health, Gender Equality, and Climate Action). Wiki In School Program 2023 – Empowering teachers to train students on Wikipedia editing and 21st-century skills. Wiki for Human Rights 2024 – Expanding Wikipedia content related to human rights and environmental sustainability in Southwest Nigeria. Wikipedia Awareness and Training in OAU – Training students in Wikipedia editing, formatting, and content creation.
